Kali Uchis unveiled a rework of her monitor “fue mejor,” swapping out PARTYNEXTDOOR’s verse for a feature from SZA.
The Grammy-winning artist also debuted a new music video directed by Daniel Sannwald, which options Kali’s actual life partner Don Toliver. The video finds Toliver and Kali using round a darkened metropolis late at night, and also options SZA dancing and crooning on the highest of a dashing automobile.
“This is Latin R&B,” Kali said in a statement about the monitor. “This is SZA singing Spanish for the very first time, this is spooky season, this IS the moment.” The monitor’s original model was a part of Kali’s beloved 2020 Spanish album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), which surpassed 1.4 billion streams and hit #1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts. Kali’s hit song “telepatía” is the longest-running Spanish-language song by a solo act on the Billboard Hot 100 this decade, and peaked at #10 on the Global 200.
As Kali gears up to head out on tour with Tyler, the Creator subsequent 12 months, she is also set to perform on the 34th Hispanic Heritage Awards on PBS on Oct. 8, where she’s going to be acknowledged because the 2021 Inspira Honoree.
